our faithful God lent #28

lent worship

We are finishing up our study on 1 Peter 4 and I think spending time worshiping our Faithful God is a perfect way to end this week. Join me as we sing praises to our Father.

Song: “The Lord Our God”
Album: Mountains Move

I wrote “The Lord Our God” with Jason Ingram. It comes straight out of the Old Testament and the story of the Israelites’ understanding the way our God was so faithful to them despite consistent rebellion. He provided for them, led them, protected them. They were going to be His people. To see the way God did that, we thought it would be so cool to write a song that captured the story of the faithfulness of God. It’s such a great thing for us to sing and to remember that no matter what darkness you’re walking through God doesn’t change. There’s a beautiful part of the Old Testament that talks about God being a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. The Israelites wouldn’t go anywhere until the cloud or pillar moved. We want to wait for God to move,.. to know that He is the light of all and all that we need. He holds my future in His hands. He leads the way and I’ll follow. It’s such a beautiful thing for us to come together and sing that forever we will say, you are the Lord our God. – source

Verse 1
Promise maker, Promise Keeper
You finish what You begin
Our provision through the desert
You see it through ’til the end
You see it through ’til the end

Chorus
The Lord our God is ever faithful
Never changing through the ages
From this darkness You will lead us
And forever we will say
You’re the Lord our God

Verse 2
In the silence, in the waiting
Still we can know You are good
All Your plans are for Your glory
Yes, we can know You are good
Yes, we can know You are good

Bridge
We won’t move without You
We won’t move without You
You’re the light of all
And all that we need
We won’t move without You
We won’t move without You
You’re the light of all
And all that we need
