the same power

same power

When you pray and ask God to give you words to write he always delivers.
Twice today he brought the same phrase before me. “the same power”

I first heard it on the radio. It was a new song by Jeremy Camp. The song really made me think about God’s great and mighty power.

The same power that rose Jesus from the grave
The same power that commands the dead to wake
Lives in us, lives in us
The same power that moves mountains when He speaks
The same power that can calm a raging sea
Lives in us, lives in us
He lives in us, lives in us
via Jeremy Camp

The first three lines of that song are what hit me hardest. Like seriously the SAME POWER that can bring someone back to life LIVES IN me.

Ephesians 1:18-2 (NIV)
I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

Romans 8:11 (NIV)
And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.

God has given us his Holy Spirit to live in us, to make us like Christ who is also God. It’s mind blowing and confusing and it’s okay. Because God tells us we do not need to understand all of his ways. I just need to trust that He knows what’s best for me and that He will provide all my needs.

So what’s my take away from this?
God has asked me recently to do some things that make me feel vulnerable. Things I would not have asked for but will do in humble submission, knowing He has a plan and that in the end I will be more like Christ. So I know that I have the power to endure whatever lies ahead because I have the power of the almighty living in me.
