As Christians need to be armed with the right attitude. say, what? the right attitude? what does that even mean?
In the beginning of 1 Peter God has given us a new hope. Because we are chosen, God teaches us how to live. He has sent us out into the world to live our christianity out publically.
1 Peter 4:1 NIV Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin.
...arm ourselves with the same attitude… The SAME attitude as Christ, which is the RIGHT attitude.
Again I love how different translations write the same verse:
NCV: Since Christ suffered while he was in his body, strengthen yourselves with the same way of thinking Christ had. The person who has suffered in the body is finished with sin.
MSG: Since Jesus went through everything you’re going through and more, learn to think like him. Think of your sufferings as a weaning from that old sinful habit of always expecting to get your own way.
In the NIV translation the word “arm” is used. To Arm ourselves means to prepare for battle. Part of being a Christian is suffering for doing good. We need to be prepared to defend our faith during times of persecution and trials.
Psalm 73:26 My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Do not because discouraged when you face trials. If you are seeking God’s will and asking for his guidance and still suffer, know you are suffering for the kingdom. You are on the RIGHT path.
We can choose God’s path or Our “my way” path. Our path ends in judgement.
Hebrews 11:25: He chose to suffer with God’s people instead of enjoying sin for a short time.
Which path are you currently on? Are you letting God lead you or just walk along side of you?
