Thankful for the Internet

Today I am thankful for the internet. I am thankful for the opportunities it has brought into my life. I am thankful for the knowledge it has allowed me to digest. I am most thankful for the relationships it has started.

Relationships starting on the internet sounds creepy, I know. And if you were to ask my husband he would probably roll his eyes and laugh at me.

This past Friday I was reminded of how the internet can be a good thing. After 5 years of chatting and messaging, snail mail, and social media likes, I met a friend for the first time IRL. The Lord knew what he was doing when he drew us together on these interwebs all those years ago. He knew that there would be day that our hearts would be seeking the same thing and we would need to sit face to face and chat about it.

I was able to see her smile in person, hear her story, her heart for others, and all the ways the Lord is working in her life. What a joy to meet someone in person after all these years and have it feel so natural. Like we had done this a million times before. I think that was majorly attributed to the fact that we both try to portray our lives as real as possible online and offline. We are the same on this computer screen as we are at a restaurant.

So why am I telling you this?  Because I am thankful and I want to share that joy with you. I want to encourage you to be the same you online and offline. To only comment, post, like, and share things that you feel are beneficial to others. Something that can bring them joy, help, love, and most importantly Jesus. I am definitely thanking Jesus for this friendship.
