Swanky Shank… Sponsor spotlight

Find out who Swank Shank really is in this interview by Chrissy @ Boerman Ramblings

Jen, tell us a bit about yourself.
Married to my soul’s twin. Mother of two little loves. Revolutionary wannabe. And I rock at Tetris.

How would you describe your shop?
Modern meets ‘Madmen’. Lot’s of babyness as of late!

What is your best selling item?
Currently: “The Keenan Set” (Three coordinating baby boy onesies)

What makes your store unique?
Unique? I don’t know! My husband and I mull over this almost daily. I think I have an eye for color… Honestly it may all just come down to that simple fact. (Although, if you ask me this tomorrow I will probably say something else…)

How did you come up with your store name?
I love words– wait… are you allowed to love words?! Well, I think I do anyway. And the word “swanky” has always made me smile. (And my last name is Shank! And “Spanky Shank” just didn’t do it for me…)

Where can you be found online?
Great Question!

How did you get started with your craft?
When I was itty I had an inordinate amount of creativity flowing from within me! I would cut my Barbie’s hair & paint her face, I would trim the cat’s fur & whiskers and decorate every window of our house, for each holiday! Once I used left over roofing shingles to create a couch for my under-the-porch-playhouse! My creativity is constant, whereas my medium isn’t always! I sew, paper-craft, paint and stamp! I also love photography and writing.

What are your favorite materials to work with/favorite mediums?
I relish all different types of materials! Delish fabrics (duck canvas is my most fav!), ribbons, threads, twine, reclaimed wood, home-made papers– gosh, the list goes on!

What inspires you?
I’ll spare you the traditional “husband & kids” answer on this one… {Although I SO could go there!!}
Music! It’s a large part of who I am. It’s got to be meaningful though– no Ke$ha for this Momma. My soul is stirred, my creativity is sparked and my heart is at it’s happiest when music is playing! There is no TV in my studio– but music is always on!

What do you enjoy most in life?
~Making list’s! (Weirdo!) ~Doing anything active with my family ~Autumn Air. Autumn Anything! ~Watching my daughter create (She always bites her bottom lip and MUST stand! Just lovely!) ~I have a love/hate relationship with running. ~Farmers Markets ~Antiquing with my hubs. ~Reading (Love Don Miller!) ~Playing house with my Oliver. He never disappoints.. ~Spending time with my besties (Love girls weekends!) ~I have a slight obsession with ‘Trader Joes’ and ‘Chickfila’– if you know me, you know this. ~But, mostly I believe that if I remember to put Love first, I’ll live life to the fullest.

What would people be most suprised to learn about you?
That I am answering these questions at 2 am?
I put ketchup in my chili. I pretend like our cars have voices when I carpool my kids around town– I think my man voice is pretty impressive actually. I can’t look at a photo of my Dad with out tearing up (he passed away last August and my heart hasn’t been the same since). One of my closest friends lives in another state and I haven’t even met her yet. I prefer dessert for breakfast over any other time of day. I detest the word “Huzzah!”. And, don’t tell my husband, but I always sit outside the kids bedrooms when he sings lullabies and plays his guitar at night.
