Keeping with the theme of Thanksgiving, I want to keep my heart in check this Christmas. I want my house to be decorated simple and festive but not over the top and showy.

I finally have a home that is allowing me the chance to decorate for the holidays; hello 2 living rooms and a kitchen area! Our old house was really one small room with no end/coffee tables or shelves to decorate. When Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores challenged us to great a #fabulouslyfestive space for the Christmas I was giddy. I just bought a new, fake Christmas tree for “my” living room. The kids are getting the 4.5 foot tree to decorate in our downstairs living room, which means the new tree is all mine. I separated all the red and silver ornaments I had on hand, along with any that were all white, sparkly, or shaped like a snowflake.

My theme all came together after I spotted the paper mache letters and gorgeous wrapping paper! I knew the room would involve lots of patterns, shapes, and sparkle!

joy paper mache letters

My daughters helped me with the JOY letters. We had the 4 year old rip the wrapping paper into thin strips. Frank and I then used the strips and mod podged them onto the letters. Easy peazy! I set the letters on top of our coat closet.

Here is a peek at the rest of our #fabulouslyfestive living room.

I purchased a few holiday floral picks and added them to a mason jar of white rocks tied with a sparkly chevron bow. We filled a large vase with silver plastic ornaments, and sprinkled in some red berry picks throughout. To make the books match the decor, we just made little book jackets with wrapping paper.

We found this red vase in the clearance section for only $3.00. My daughter said it was meant to be ours because there are 3 kids in our home. We placed 5 snowball floral stems inside to represent our family of 5!

We added a floral pick of berries covered in clear beads to the Goodwill vase. I also filled a few smaller mason jars with red and sliver bead strands.

red and silver bunting

A little red and silver bunting was added to the window hanging above our couch. I used silver wrapping paper and scrap fabric for this project.
And for my favorite part of the room, the red chevron accents,

and the triangle chevron tree pillows. Oh, I love these. I wish red matched my living room all year long because I am so in love with these little guys.
