i am going to use the term family loosely here. some of us do not have a biological family or are not on good terms with them. to each of us “your family” is different but also the same. family is there to protect, serve and love each other. God created humans to live in families. Family relationships are important to God. as believers we are called the church, which is a the family of God. we are adopted in God’s family at salvation.
instructions for a godly woman in her family:
She is to love them: “…older women are to… encourage the young women to love their husbands… so that God’s message will not be slandered” (Titus 2:3- 5)
She is to be responsive to her husbands leadership: “In the same way, you wives must accept the authority of your husbands. Then, even if some refuse to obey the Good News, your godly lives will speak to them without any words. They will be won over by observing your pure and reverent lives. (1 Peter 3:1-2)
She should be a worthy example: “Teach a youth about the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6)
She is to be a provider: “But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”(1 Timothy 5:8) “She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy” (Proverbs 31:20).
*disclaimer this do not mean its okay to be used and have the resources God provided us abused)
She is not lazy: “She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness.” (Proverbs 31:27)
She will serve God with her whole heart: “Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised” (Proverbs 31:30) “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction” (Proverbs 1:7)
