setting the scene

setting the scene

having my mind and heart full of God’s truths is such a calming feeling. I feel like i can tackle the next item on my list. setting the scene

my house

let’s be honest here, i do have a few boards full of pins i am ready to execute. but before i can start that i need to set the mood. I need to make sure my house has been prayed over, room by room. the guests have each been prayed for by name. i want there to be an aroma of grace so strong that each person feel as though the night was set just for them.

“By wisdom a house is built, & through understanding it is established.” Proverbs 24:3

“The wise woman builds her house,
but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.” Proverbs 14:1

we need to be women who take pride and responsibility in the running of our homes in order to bring glory to God, our families, and our lives. i learned last month that we are not born with this, we are taught. As women, single and married, we are responsible for setting and maintaining the atmosphere in our homes. Our actions, tone of our voice, and attitudes play a key role setting the tones in our house.

Live a life of love just as Christ loved us and gave himself for us as a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:2

before we get completely caught up in the baking, cleaning, and serving, and decorating, we need to look at Luke 10.

Luke 10:38-42

we need to create a balance of Martha and Mary in our lives. we need to be actively serving God, (martha), while making to time to just be with God (mary).

peter scazzero puts it like this in his book emotionally healthy spirituality :
“the reason we need to stop and be with God is so we might create a continual and easy familiarity with God’s presence at all times – while working, playing, cooking, taking out the garbage, driving, visiting friends, as well as worship, prayer, and Bible study. This requires that we slow down to pay attention. Our goal is to love God with our whole being, to be consistently conscious of God through our daily life – whether it is when we are stopped like Mary, sitting at the feet of Jesus or active like Martha, taking care of the tasks of life. we know we have found our balance when we are so deeply rooted in God that our activity is marked by the peaceful, joyful rich quality of our contemplation.”

take a few days with me and set the scene for your gathering. praying, worshiping, and being with God. not forgetting to prepare your house while doing so.
