selfless suffering lent #21

lent day 21 selfless uffering

What does selfless suffering mean? As we look through verse 13-22 of 1 Peter chapter 3, I think we will find our answer.
Verses 13-14 a great place to start.

 If with heart and soul you’re doing good, do you think you can be stopped? Even if you suffer for it, you’re still better off.” The Message

If we are truly walking side by side with God and are seeking His wisdom in all the details of our lives, then tell the evil one to bring it. If God is for us, who can really be against us? Don’t worry about what others think, don’t fear their retaliation.

Isaiah 8:12-13 (NCV)
12 “People are saying that others make plans against them,
but you should not believe them.
Don’t be afraid of what they fear;
do not dread those things.
13 But remember that the Lord All-Powerful is holy.
He is the one you should fear;
he is the one you should dread.

1 Peter 3:13-14

… Even if you suffer for it …

James 1:12: Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

For it..  For Him, for Jesus, for the one who came to save us, for the one who is preparing a place in heaven just for us. Who are we to complain when Jesus died for us, before we were born, he died do that we could have life. Life may seem sucky at times but nothing compares to suffering Jesus went through.

Verse 18: For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit

Verse 17: For it is better, if God should will it so, that you suffer for doing what is right rather than for doing what is wrong.

This brings us back to 1 Peter chapter 1.

1 Peter 1:6-7 (NIV)
In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

We were created for God, to love Him, praise Him, follow, Him, obey Him, and submit to His will.
Are you suffering for Christ? Have you? Please share your story with us.
