Revelation from today

todays revelationm a study on the book of revelation

Revelation 3:7-10(ESV)
“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: ‘The words of the holy one, the true one, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will shut, who shuts and no one opens.

~ the church in Philadelphia – Philadelphia lies about thirty miles south-east of Sardis, on the road to Laodicea. It is said to owe its name to Attalus Philadelphus, King of Pergamum, B.C. 159-138.

~ the holy one – He declares Himself to be God! (1 Samuel 2:2 “No one is holy like the LORD, For there is none besides You, Nor is there any rock like our God.) He is setting himself apart.

~ the true one – he is faithful and trustworthy. God can always be counted on to keep his promises. Jesus called Himself the “TRUTH” (John 14:6 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.)

~ has the key of David – meaning he has authority and responsibility. Christ has the key of knowledge. Jesus Christ the one who already holds the keys to hell and death, and here claims the keys to the kingdoms of the earth as well!

~ who opens and no one will shut, who shuts and no one opens – He is the only way into His father’s house. (John 10:9 I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.) He has free and unrestrained access to the house; the power of admitting anyone, or of excluding anyone. He has absolute authority over who is saved and who shall suffer eternal death.

~ My take away: I am reminded of the power Christ has. That he is the only way for me and others to get to heaven. Also that he is loving, faithful, true and the Holy. That I should fear his name but also run to him with open arms.
Jesus loves me and Jesus loves you. He wants to dwell with us forever not shut the door and leave us out. But he can, and he will if we do not make the choice to chose him above all else.
