I shared with you last week one of my resolutions for 2016 was to make better eating choices aka eat less junk. I am focusing on making a new me in this new year. Both spiritually and physically.
Today starts the physical side. Time to cut out some of the sweets I would normally eat for lunch.

So today I made the most delicious peanut banana blueberry smoothie for lunch. I made sure to finish it before the kids returned home from school, I was so not sharing this yummy drink with them.

When I was shopping at Walmart today, buying all the Christmas clearance items I could find, I picked up some Jif Peanut Powder. I bought the regular and chocolate varieties.

You can find both peanut powders in the peanut butter aisle.

Jif Peanut Powder at Walmart

Jif Peanut Powder has the same amount of protein as traditional peanut butter, but with 85% less fat. It’s a great way to still have that enjoyable peanut taste in your smoothies, just with fewer calories and less sugar. I know we can all be excited about that.

I wanted to share my current smoothie recipe with you. It’s a favorite in our house. I love using the Jif peanut powder over regular peanut butter because it blends well into your smoothie and is a lot easier to clean up.

Into your blender add:
1 cup Silk almond milk – i prefer the vanilla flavor
3 Tbsp of Jif Peanut Powder
1/3 cup frozen spinach or kale

1 small banana
4 ice cubes (optional)

Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie

My kids and I think this smoothie tastes like a peanut butter cake. You almost feel guilty drinking it. Yet I don’t because I can give my kids a drink that is YUMMY but also good for them. It’s a double win for this mom!
