Outdoor Christmas Decorations
With the weather being unusually warm here for this time of year I thought it was the perfect time to set up our Outdoor Christmas Decorations. By set up, I mean plan, purchase, and execute.

This year I wanted to be one step ahead of the game and take a little off my plate.
Planning ahead for the holiday season and decorating earlier can mean less stress and more time for the things that matter most.
Another reason we chose this week to decorate early is because Big Lots has declared it National Decorate Your Home for the Holidays Week [from Nov. 16th- 22nd], and of course I wanted to participate.

We began my making a plan and choosing our theme, we are calling it “Simply Rustic”.
In other words our style will be more natural items, with pops of color and of course lots of lights.
Because of their wide array of stunning holiday and seasonal decor items we headed to Big Lots as a family to choose our decorations. We were able to purchase everything we needed in one place down to the plugs and outlet connectors! When shopping with 3 kids and a husband this is a hug WIN!

I may have squealed when we found their Woodland Collection. I mean seriously look how cute these items are!

I have always wanted our decor to look inviting and cozy, not over the top or cluttered.
I think we accomplished our goal.
My front porch may be my favorite part, the kids and hubby may disagree.

I wrapped an old tomato cage with LED lights to look like a tree and added this cute sign from Big Lots [Styles and assortment vary by store] to welcome our guests.
The “tree” is sitting on top of pine tree branches and an old bushel basket I painted.

The lantern and holiday pick are both from Big Lots. The crate I already had and just gave it a white wash with some paint I had lying around from our cabinet redo.
The little deer I also owned and I laid him on some pine branches I cut from my Mom’s yard.

The hubby and I went into the woods to cut a downed tree to fill the inside of the crate. I love how it turned out.

When we purchased this Noel sign I knew right away that it would need and be front and center. My hubby suggested we add it to the front door instead of a wreath. I added a few pine branches tied together with twine behind the sign to add a little of the simply rustic look. It’s perfect!

The kids favorite part is their Peanuts gang they picked out. I wanted them to have something that represented them in our decor.

The greenery was picked out by my son. It fit perfectly inside our window box and the pine cone details give that extra layer of texture! The best part is that it took 3 steps to put together.

For our big impact piece we chose large LED cool white Christmas lights. These have been on my wish list for years. I love the size of the lights and how perfectly straight they look when using the roof clips.

I am already planning my next trip to Big Lots for all my indoor decorations. I decided to change the theme of my Christmas tree to match our outdoor decorations. I think the little sparkly white deer heads will be the first ornaments I get!

Have you decorated your house yet? I’d love to see pictures.
