new TV console…

if you have been a reader of this blog you would know
that my house is…
well.. smaller than most.

by small i mean like 835sq ft small!
before you take that as complaining or ungrateful
let me tell you it’s not,
the Lord has blessed us abundantly by living in this house.
He has provided contentment and peace
although so many think we need to move asap…

i have been trying to gain a few more inches in our living over the past few years.
last Oct i shared with you my quest to find a new TV console

you can’t honestly tell me you forgot about my half plank?

tv concole narrow living room

of course i created a whole Pinterest board dedicated to it..
i had great plans to build a costume table made from shutters and pallets.
yeah that did not happen

we have had this TV stand for almost 8 years.

Bush TV stand

there is nothing wrong with it and it’s in great condition.
it’s just too deep for our narrow living room

just the other day while looking through the ads that came in the mail
i saw what i felt was the perfect piece for our living room
it was going to be functional, cute, and affordable!

we found this gem at Bed Bath and Beyond
we had a few coupons saved up so it was super cost effetive and i was even able
to purchase a few baskets to fill the cubbies…

Real Simple 9-Cube Storage Unit - Espresso

it was easy to assemble
we did choose to not add the legs so we could put our DVD player on top.
our DVD player was too wide to fit in the cubbie

it feels like a whole new living room to me!

i have not decided what will fill the cubbies as of yet.
what is in there now is just what i took out of our old TV cabinet.
I am thinking bright colors
funky shapes

now because i know you need to see how much room we really have..
i have provided another plank photo for you.
again don’t judge my form!

  3. That’s awesome! I’m so happy that you found the right piece of furniture… and were able to afford it. I totally know what it’s like to live in a small space. The other day I spent a while watching youtube videos of people giving tours of their tiny homes (like TINY) and they showed how they made them work. It was amazing! I was inspired. I’m going through the process of sifting through our things now and trying to get rid of unnecessary stuff. We’re about to move into a little townhouse where we won’t have a lot of space to store things, so I want to get rid of everything that is useless right now.

I would probably put books in those cubbies. Because we have lots. 😛

  4. I love your new TV console! We have a billion books, so that’s probably what would fill those cubbies if it were in my house. =]

  5. LOVE IT! How super fun! I think I would fill one cubby with some books, one with some fun colorful vases, one with one of those platters and poutpourri ball things, you know- like twine balls? Oh- I would have so much fun bringing brightness into that space!
