Life on Walnut Street…{sponsor spotlight}…

Friends, please give a warm welcome to my friend Sarah…I “met” Sarah when we were assigned partners in the handmade gift exchange at Craftaholis anonymous. and now here we are super good friends! Take it away Sarah~

Tell me a bit about yourself.

Hi! I’m Sarah and I blog over at Life on Walnut Street. I’m a Jesus-loving, fair-skinned, football-crazy, coffee guzzling, vegetarian, transplant to Ohio where I live in the little town of Walnut Creek with my wonderful hubbs, Dustin and our two crazy pooches!

I’m in Sales/Graphic Design and most days I love it! I worked for a lot of years (in fact, all my years) in Theatre and TV until I moved here to Ohio. I have a crazy, cluttered, creative mind. I love art, music, design, and anything that gets my mind working in creative ways.
I love to meet new people and make new friends. I’d love to hear from you!
How would you describe your blog?
The short version:  A catalog to organize my creative processes.
It seems that I always have something going on, dinner parties, DIY projects, graphic design work, church activities, community events, new recipes I want to try…my mind is always working! There is not much that I enjoy more then being able to be creative.
This blog is a place to share ideas, be inspired and (try) to inspire others, no more…no less.
What is your most popular post?
Ohh…fun question! I am going to give you my top two…
the first is the all time most viewed post that I have written.

The second is the most popular so far this month.

What makes your blog unique?
On my blog I strive to be a really authentic person with a unique voice. I’m not a seasoned writer and I’m not any kind of fancy-pants in the blogging community! In “real life” I’m pretty easy-going, sarcastic and fun. I hope that is how people see me through what I create, sell and write. When they visit me on Walnut Street I want people to feel comfortable with me, like I’m their friend!

How did you come up with your blog name?

This one is super simple. I literally live on Walnut Street! Originally my blog was designed as a way to keep in touch with my cousin who lives in Illinois (where I am from) – I wanted to be able to share my “Life on Walnut Street” with her. I honestly had no idea that I would ever have as many readers as I do now!

Where can you be found online?
I’m always on Facebook that is where it will be the easiest to get a hold of me! Often times people also e-mail me directly with individual questions they may have about a project and I try to get back to everyone! I’m also on Google+ and Pinterest…and I am SUPER excited because I just recently opened an Etsy store! Follow the buttons below to connect with me! I love meeting new friends!

How did you get started with your “craft”?
This could get a little long, but I will try my best not to let it! I have always been a pretty creative person, even as a kid I was a crafter! My grandma had a lot to do with this. I also happen to be a bit of a tom-boy and from a young age my dad taught me how to use power-tools. I learned to sew as a teenager working in the theatre helping with costumes. From there, as and adult I began re-purposing furniture when I moved into my first apartment because frankly, I had NO money and I went back to school for Graphic Design in 2010!

What are your favorite materials to work with/favorite mediums?
I’m always going to love a good ol’ can of spray paint! I have yet to find an object that I could not re-invent with a  little elbow grease and a beautiful new coat of paint! I guess that is not really a “medium” necessarily, but you get the idea! On the Graphic Design side I am a bit of a nut for beautiful typefaces and fonts!

What inspires you?
The truth? I’m not sure if it is more inspiration or simply the challenge but I’m a total junker. I love yard sales and thrift stores. People think I’m cheap, but I like to think that I am inventive! I love the challenges of taking something that others see as trash and making into something beautiful!

What do you enjoy doing in your off time?

Entertaining. We built our home last year so it has been fun to be able to have the space to have friends and family over.

What would people be most surprised to learn about you?
I think that people would be surprised to know that I am somewhat of a pacifist. (Although I hate that term!) I believe that Jesus Christ, in the New Testament, teaches that we should live lives of peace and seek non-violet resolution to conflict. No this does not mean that I am UN-patriotic.  It also doesn’t mean that I march in protests or that I disrespect soldiers! This is a pretty big issue…much too deep to really unpack here, but for a little more information about what I believe you can go HERE OR e-mail me!

Thanks for letting me visit with you over here at Boerman Ramblings today! Hope to see you all over on Walnut Street really soon!
Be Blessed!

*I told you that you would love everything about her!
