life lately

John 15:5

life lately has gotten all sorts of crazy
there are days when i am not even sure what day it is.

days when i am not sure what my name is
okay not that bad but you get the point

days that having 5 kids in a tiny house that needs to be prepped for showing at all times
starts to weigh on you after a while

it days when i email my hubby at work saying i hit a wall and need prayer
i need to be calmed down and encouraged to keep going

days when we are at the dentist and Nancy takes Lennie to the bathroom
only to leave her in there alone yelling from the doorway of the office that she needs to be wiped
all while Lennie is screaming from the bathroom down the hall because she is scared being in there alone

days when there is not enough coffee in the world to keep my eyes open

and then there are days when i realize i need to stop trying to do this alone
that i need to lay my burdens at Jesus feet
to seek His face, be in His presence and allow Him to take control

1 John 4:13-21 (ESV)
By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.

Abide in Him
this beautiful reminder is on sale at DaySpring right now.

To “abide” is to live, continue, or remain;
so, to abide in Christ is to live in Him or remain in Him.

The phrase “abiding in Christ” pictures an intimate, close relationship, and not just a superficial acquaintance.

this is what i long for.

for days when i my first reaction is to make sure i am abiding in Christ
not reaching for the nearest coffee pot

for days when i write out my my prayers to God while reading His word
not just emailing my husband to pray on my behalf

for days when i hunger only for His Word, His presence, For Him
not the candy bar in my purse

Friends will you pray with me?
Lord God forgive us, Forgive us for trying to take control, for trying to “fix” things before seeking your wisdom. Lord, fill us with a thirst only for you. Lord God I pray that each of us looks to you for council before trying to seek others. I pray that we make time with you a priority, not a task to check off our list. Father we know you love us, we are so grateful for that. Please help me keep a perspective of what that really means, and how precious the gift of salvation truly is. Lord I ask that you be with each of us in a special way today, renew our passion for you, for your Word, for your promises. Allow others to see you when they look at us. Make us less Lord, so you can be more. Amen
