Let’s talk Enneagrams

Okay let’s talk Enneagrams. \ ˈe-nē-ə-ˌgram
What is the Enneagram?

The Enneagram (Ennea=9, Gram=Diagram) is simply a map (GPS) for self-discovery and personal growth based on 9 basic personality types *1

I have been hearing a lot about this on podcasts and Instagram lately and thought I would finally look into it and see what the hype is all about. Now before I tell you my number, I want to make a disclaimer. I have only researched this for about 4 hours. I am NOT an expert, actually I’m far from. I am not saying that the Enneagram is right or wrong. Good for you or harmful. Do your own research.
Moving on.

The Enneagram breaks down personalities into 9 types:

1 THE REFORMER (Moral Perfectionist)
The Rational, Idealistic Type: Principled, Purposeful, Self-Controlled, and Perfectionistic

2 THE HELPER (Supportive Advisor)
The Caring, Interpersonal Type: Demonstrative, Generous, People-Pleasing, and Possessive

3 THE ACHIEVER (Successful Achiever)
The Success-Oriented, Pragmatic Type: Adaptive, Excelling, Driven, and Image-Conscious

4 THE INDIVIDUALIST (Romantic Individualist)
The Sensitive, Withdrawn Type: Expressive, Dramatic, Self-Absorbed, and Temperamental

5 THE INVESTIGATOR (Investigative Thinker)
The Intense, Cerebral Type: Perceptive, Innovative, Secretive, and Isolated

6 THE LOYALIST (Loyal Guardian)
The Committed, Security-Oriented Type: Engaging, Responsible, Anxious, and Suspicious

7 THE ENTHUSIAST (Entertaining Optimist)
The Busy, Fun-Loving Type: Spontaneous, Versatile, Distractible, and Scattered

8 THE CHALLENGER (Protective Challenger)
The Powerful, Dominating Type: Self-Confident, Decisive, Willful, and Confrontational

9 THE PEACEMAKER (Peaceful Mediator)
The Easygoing, Self-Effacing Type: Receptive, Reassuring, Agreeable, and Complacent

I took two tests. From two different websites to see if I received the same answer. here and here
I was marked with labeled branded given the same number on each test.

Hi my name is Chrissy and I am a 2.

type 2

I had my husband look over the results and we both agree I am a 2. No doubt about it. So what does this mean for me? Well that answer is lot more complicated.
Yes I am a two on the Enneagram scale but more importantly I am a child of God on the heavenly scale. And the Heavenly scale is the only one I will fully rely on. I my use the enneagram as a guide to figure out what triggers me and what I can do to help become emotionally healthier but ultimately it is God who says who I am. He is my protector, my Guide, my Rock, my defender, my Father.

One of the things I found very interesting is the way Your Enneagram Coach split up each type into 5 categories.
1. Core Fear
2. Core Desire
3. Self-Image
4. Core weakness
5. Message the heart longs to hear

Each type also has 2 wings. One that they lean more towards when healthy and one they lean towards when stressed. And man these were spot on for me.

No comments from the peanut gallery…

So there you have it… I am excited to dig deeper into the world of enneagram but also the word of God. I want to be my best self for my family and friends and I think learning about our personalities can help be that healthier person. But most importantly learning who God says I am will make me the best person I can be.

I just took both of the test that you linked. On one I got a 9 and on the other I got a 2. Not really sure what I am. I am not very self aware. LOL. What do you think?

    • I think you should take them both again. And be honest with what you actually feel MOST of the time. Not how you “should” or how you want … but answers the questions with MOST of the time real answers. Some of them i was embarrassed with my answer. try again and see what you get. I have my guesses ad what you are but I dont want to say until you try it again.

eeek. this is annoying. I took them both again. The first one gave me a 9 again and the other one gave me a 1 this time instead of a 2. so………. what is your pick for my #?
