kitchen cabinets painted white

A few weeks ago we made a few updates in our 1980’s kitchen. We freshened up our kitchen cabinets by painting them white.
Before we get into what’s new, let’s take a look back at the old… (this is a picture heavy post)

1980's kitchen

That still makes my dizzy just looking at it.

kitchen to do list:
remove wallpaper
paint walls
white subway tile backsplash
paint cabinets white
update light fixtures
new appliances
paint chalkboard wall
update cabinet hardware
counter tops – concrete or gray something

We are slowly but surely plugging away at our to-do list.
Our recent project was updating the cabinets. I had no idea how big of a difference they were going to make.

We used a DIY chalk paint and wax on the cabinets. The hardware is brushed nickel from Lowe’s. We purchased the contractor packs to cut down on the cost. We spray painted the hinges with stainless steel paint.

okay enough chatting… let the picture overload begin.

  1. I agree with the others – great job! There was something homely about the 80’s style but it is definitely time to move on. Clean lines and colours are the best, and you have certainly achieved that.
