“So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide (Jehovah Jireh). And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.” Genesis 22:14
The Lord has been teaching me so much during this house selling/buying process. I have grown a lot in my prayer time and in my waiting/listening, which is by far harder than praying. Let’s just be honest about that.
This week I am focusing on Jehovah Jireh: The Lord provides.
So often I get caught up in the “how” of life that I forget that really my “how” means nothing. Because it is all about the Lord’s how really.
I do not need to worry about HOW things will work out, HOW I will accomplish my to do list, HOW fast my house will sell, for HOW much my house will sell for, HOW and when will we find a new house, and so on.
When we read Genesis Chapter 22 we get a clear picture of HOW God will provide. Abraham was being tested and was asked to sacrifice his only son. The son he waited for, the son he loved so much, his only son.
(vs 6) Abraham loved the Lord and wanted to please him, so he gathered the wood for the sacrifice and gave it to his son to carry. (vs 7-8) Isaac asks his father where the lamb is and Abraham responds by saying the Lord will provide the lamb, they continued to walk up the mountain which God had chosen.
(vs 11-13) Abraham was following through with the Lord’s request and about to kill his son when an angel of the Lord stopped him. Then Abraham looked up and saw a ram in the bushes, he sacrificed the ram instead of his one and only son. (vs 14) Because the Lord provided a sacrifice for Abraham and allowed his son to live he named the place Jehovah Jireh, the Lord provides, because on that day the Lord provided.
Just as that promise of provision was true then it is true for us today.
The Lord did provide for you, the Lord is providing for you, and the Lord will provide for you from now until eternity.
I am holding this promise close as I wait for the Lord’s provision of a new home for our family. Even when it seems hopeless and I get frustrated I know deep down that God loves me and wants the best for me and he is preparing the perfect home for our family.

How has the Lord provided for you recently?
