her home smells of God’s grace

God's grace #31days

The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down. Proverbs 14:1

as women, single and married, we are responsible for setting and maintaining the atmosphere in our homes. Our actions, tone of our voice, and attitudes play a key role setting the tones in our house. everyone that enters our home should be able to breathe in the sweet-smelling fragrance of grace, God’s grace. we need to remember that we are not the sweet fragrance; it is the gift of God in Christ Jesus that fills the walls of our home and the air we breathe, with the sweet aroma of victory in salvation through our lives as we are led by His Spirit. Our love for the Lord should be filling our homes.

Live a life of love just as Christ loved us and gave himself for us as a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice to God. Ephesians 5:2

Ephesians 5:2

one way she can help create and enjoyable atmosphere in her home is to keep it organized and free of clutter.  i know that this is not easy. coming from a ex-hoarder- i totally get it. I learned so much cluttering my home. for my family specifically, there is o much more peace, relaxing and way less stress over lost things. I am by no means perfect. i am pretty sure you would cringe if you saw my craft room. You should view your home as your palace next to heaven and it should be treated in such a way.

before we get completely caught up in the organizing, baking, cleaning, and serving we need to look at Luke 10.

Luke 10:38-42 (NCV)
While Jesus and his followers were traveling, Jesus went into a town. A woman named Martha let Jesus stay at her house. Martha had a sister named Mary, who was sitting at Jesus’ feet and listening to him teach. But Martha was busy with all the work to be done. She went in and said, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me alone to do all the work? Tell her to help me.”
But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things. Only one thing is important. Mary has chosen the better thing, and it will never be taken away from her.”

Luke 10:40-42

you see although things needed to be prepared, cleaned, and made ready for her guests, we need to prioritize. we need to make Jesus our focus and if we are spending all our time preparing our house and not our hearts we have failed. Because all we need is ONE thing, and that ONE thing is Jesus.
