Friday Coffee Date…

I am thankful
thankful you are here with me today
thankful to be able to pray for you today…

Lord, my heart is so happy with thanksgiving right now. I am so blessed and thank you for all those blessings. Father, please continue to watch over my friend today, and everyday, keeping them safe from Satan’s evil attacks. Lord, I am asking that you please protect our hearts and minds from being consumed with the ways of this world. Give us the strength Father to defend our beliefs, to protect our morals, and most importantly thirst for your spiritual milk. Thank you for this world we live in father, although filled with sin we are able to praise you freely. In Jesus name I pray, Amen

Last week we discussed 1 Peter chapter 1
This week I wanted to share just a few highlights from 1 Peter chapter 2.

I think the chapter starts off pretty powerful…

Therefore, rid yourselves B)’>of every kind.  Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, D)’>in your salvation,  now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

of every kind: not just what you think is wrong but of every kind.

easier said then done right.

Col 3:8-10 “But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.”

Ephesians 4:31–32
Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

I think malice, rage, slander, and wrath I can do
but envy? have you been on pinterest
have you read other blogs about perfect homes, ample income, cute kids, perfect wives?
*obviously not referring to my blog
what about filthy language
yup I said it, I sometimes have an alternate ego of a sailor
I struggle with it but am trying to be better
what about bitterness?
as humans we try to forgive like Christ forgave us
but we were created with these darn memories that remind us ever so often of all the hurt.
I am so thankful that the Lord is not bitter towards me for all my sins.

I Peter 2:2 "
Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,  now that you have tasted that the Lord is good."

We all know that new-born babies get their nourishment from milk. Christians should get their nourishment from the Word of God {Bible}. It should be the desire of our hearts to fellowship with God in His Word each day. A baby cannot live long without milk, and a Christian cannot remain a Christian without studying the Word of God.

again, that sounds doable.
I get thirsty, i take a drink.
I drink everyday. I try and get my spiritual nugget everyday.
whether that be reading from the bible, a devotional, or the Jesus calling book.
but do i truly crave God’s word like a newborn baby craves milk?
If I am going to be honest, no.
but i do long to have that thirst.
Do i really look at the Word, as my daily nourishment? my hearts desire?

For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

He never sinned,

    nor ever deceived anyone.

He did not retaliate when he was insulted,

nor threaten revenge when he suffered.
He left his case in the hands of God,
    who always judges fairly.

He personally carried our sins

in his body on the cross
so that we can be dead to sin
and live for what is right.
By his wounds
    you are healed.

Once you were like sheep

    who wandered away.
But now you have turned to your Shepherd,
    the Guardian of your souls.

Did you read that.. He never sinned, deceived anyone, retaliated, or threatened.
Does that reflect my life, um no.
I was born a sinner, but the other things are my fault.
I don’t usually threaten people, unless you consider my kids people!

I really appreciate when it says..

He left his case in the hands of God,
    who always judges fairly.

so many times we try to take things into our own hands. assuming that we can handle it alone. But we can’t. There have been many things in my life that could never have happened due to my own strength,
The fact that I am a Christina, married to Jake and have 3 wonderful children.

Jeremiah 17:7
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.

Psalm 34:8
Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.

Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

I am totally loving going through 1 Peter…I can not wait to see what truths we find in chapter 3
