filling up

filling up Isaiah 40:31

before we can begin filling up our homes with food, family, and friends this thanksgiving we need to fill ourselves. not with pinterest ideas, Martha Stewart recipes, leftover Halloween candy, or the latest episode of grey’s anatomy. we need to fill ourselves with streams of living water.

John 4:13-14 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

John 7:37-39 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

we need to fill ourselves with Jesus. For he is all we need. we can not help others or entertain, or prepare our homes for guests if we are running on empty. we need to seek God and His strength to finish strong. there is not a perfect party planning guide that can get us through the busy holidays, there is not a check list to complete that will prevent anything from going wrong, and there is not a secret club that gives all the best tips for hosting the perfect event. although it would be fun to have a secret party planning club.

Philippians 4:19 And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

that’s our answer. we need to spend time in the word, seeking God’s will and planning an event that will glorify Him. before we can move forward we need to sit and spend time with our creator, meditating on His word, praising His name and thanking him for all he has already done for us!
