Easy felt Valentine’s banner

Easy felt Valentine's banner

Let me explain how this easy felt banner came to be…
My little Lennie mentioned that we should decorate for Valentine’s day.
Not only did she think WE should decorate, she thought SHE could make the decorations.
If you know me, I am not a decorate for Valentine’s day kind of girl.
(okay so there was this one time I did, but that’s it)
Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Winter and Spring; that’s as far as I usually go.

But because I had found some really cute and inexpensive craft supplies at our local department store, I thought why not.

I used these cute little felt doilies I found in the dollar bin at Meijer, gold glitter stickers- also from Meijer (similar found here), and some twine we had laying around.

First Lennie placed a gold heart in the center of each doilie. I wanted to micro manage and make sure they were centered, but then remembered this is HER project. She did a great job by the way.

After all the hearts were placed I asked her to create a pattern with the doilies, I love how she chose to start light to dark and repeat that. Using the twine we strung the doilies.

We attached the banner to the wall with some good ole’ scotch tape and glitter heart sticker for looks. Not because I was trying to hide the tape.

Now that the banner is up I am itching to create a little “faux mantle”. I use my piano as a mantle since we do not currently have one in our home. I went to a few thrift stores, target dollar spot, and dollar tree to grab my supplies. I share our Valentine’s mantle that later this week. I am sure there will be sneak peaks on instagram before then though.
