dressed for the occasion …

dressed for the occasion

this year thanksgiving will be hosted at my house! I am excited and maybe a bit nervous. i know there will be lots to get done the day of. which means excess amounts of sweating. just being honest here. when i cook, clean, and prepare for guests i always get a little too toasty! This thanksgiving i am going to try and be practically dressed for the occasion.

i am thinking layers. t-shirts, cardigans, scarves and jeggings. while i am cooking i anticipate wearing a t shirt and an apron. yes i wear an apron, because i think it s cute, nope. because i am the person who ends up with shirt full of stains and wets spots while cooking/cleaning. you know what i am talking about the lines across your midsection from rubbing your not so flat stomach against a wet counter. yeah that happens even when you are not pregnant!

if i could go shopping before thanksgiving i would head to target* to grab a few items. (click images to see on targets website)

Ahh the perfect mustard cardigan, to be warn over a plain t-shirt, a lightweight scarf, and legwarmers! but i am not so i will try and find something similar in my closet. I will wear the t shirt and a necklace while cooking, and add the cardigan and scarf while enjoying time with my guests!
but the most important items i will be wearing this year is the armor of God!

Ephesians 6:10-20 The Armor of God
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
