When I first updated my living room for spring I shared with you little about the DIY table tray I made.
Today I wanted to let you in exactly how that little tray came to be.
It started shortly after my grandfather passed away and I received a few of his kitchen items. I saw this cute little basket-dish-holder and thought the wood color would look nice in my living room.
Doesn’t’ everyone see dishes as living room accessories?
I cut out a cardboard base for my basket using a cereal box. Hello, being green and reusing trash. *gold star for me* okay not really, but I can pretend.
I covered the cardboard in dollar store fauz leather contact paper. say that 10x fast. Ta-da a table tray.
Now to accessorize. Of course I had to consult Pinterest to figure out what in the world I was doing. After I gathered the general concept: stagger the height, flowers, coordinating colors, and one unexpected items, I shopped my house for items.
- a book that matched the color scheme I was going for (also one that I absolutely love)
- two glass vases gifted from a friend (used to be here)
- DIY succulent planter
- spray painted vintage coke bottle with faux lavender
- spray painted kid toy dog (that did not go over well with my daughter)
What do you have on your coffee table?
