Cranberry Salsa with Cream Cheese

cranberry salsa with cream cheese appetizer

I have the perfect dish to add to your Holiday menu this year.
Cranberry salsa with cream cheese
I made this dish for our small group last week and it was a hit.
It’s the perfect blend of sweet and savory.
Otherwise known as the best of both worlds.
Great now I am singing that old Miley Cyrus song..
I digress

I love how fast this recipe is to put together.
Plus almost all of the ingredients are fresh.

Another great reason to make this recipe is because all the hard work is done by your food processor

Now the hard part.. waiting…
Trust me when I say DO NOT skip this part.
The flavors need to marinate together before you can taste it.
I tried it early once and it was a hot mess of tart yuck

marinated cranberry must sit for 2 hours before eating

Look how pretty the colors are after sitting for 2 hours.
This dish will look amazing on any holiday table.
I plan on making it for both Thanksgiving and Christmas

Cranberry Salsa with Cream Cheese
This salsa is the perfect combination of spicy and sweet. The cream cheese gently cools your mouth from the jalapenos. This dish is prefect for any holiday menu.
Recipe type: appetizer, side dish
  • 1 (12-ounce bag) or 3 cups fresh cranberries, rinsed and drained
  • ¼ to ½ cup roughly chopped green onions
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro leaves, roughly chopped
  • 2 tablespoons finely-grated FRESH ginger
  • 2 tablespoons fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese
  • Optional: 2 jalapenos, minced (adjust according to taste)
  • Cranberries and/or cilantro sprigs for garnish
  1. Place cranberries, green onions and cilantro (and jalapenos) in a food processor and pulse until fine.
  2. Pour mixture into a bowl
  3. Stir in lime juice, salt, and sugar and grated ginger
  4. Chill in the fridge for 2 hours or more.
  5. Place softened cream cheese blocks plate or other shallow serving dish.
  6. Spread salsa on top and serve with crackers.
I often only use one block of cream cheese at a time placing only half of the salsa mixture on top
You could substitute cream cheese for goat cheese or Brie as well.

  1. Calls for ginger, but don’t see it in instructions. Did I miss something?

  2. This looks really good! I’ll have to print it off and save it for when I need to make something to take to a holiday party! Thanks!
