being God’s children lent #8

being God’s children

My heart is so full today. Meditating on the blessing of being God’s children can make any bad day better. I am so thankful for all the Lord is teaching me this Lenten season.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.  (1 Peter 1:3)

We have a living hope which equals eternal life
Our Living Hope is a gift from God
What is our living hope?

…to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, (1 Peter 1:4)

Inheritance / blessing. = it’s that which is passed down to you from your father, it’s that which you receive as a gift, a legacy given to you because you are a member of a certain family.  It is not something you really earn, it is not something you buy, it is something you receive as a gift because of the family you were born into
Imperishable which means it cannot pass away but cannot be destroyed
Undefiled which means it’s unpolluted unstained by evil and unspoiled
Unfading
which means it does not decay like a flower it will never lose its beauty

who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time (1 Peter 1:5)

for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. (1 Peter 1:9)

The word “salvation,” means rescue. It means deliverance.
We have constant deliverance from the power of sin.
We are guarded by God’s power. Because of God supreme power no one can steal a Christian’s treasure or cause them to be disqualified from receiving

1 Peter 1:23

For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.(1 Peter 1:23)
Our new birth is unfailing and permanent
Thanks be to God!
